Proof first · print file after the yes
From an AI wrap concept to a file the shop can print
A client emails a wrap they made in ChatGPT or another image model. That picture gets the conversation started. The print file is what the designer opens after the client approves the proof.
MockMapr is the same-day client proof, then an Export for Design kit when the designer needs Illustrator files. Signup includes 3 mockups, lifetime, not per month. HD is from $5 or Pro at $49/mo.
What the AI picture is for
An AI wrap concept is one image. The van, the perspective, the shadows, and the lettering are painted into the same pixels. A client can tell you in a minute whether the phone number is large enough and whether the logo sits on the door. That reaction is the job of the picture.
The same image leaves out what a cutter and a designer need next. There is no measurement tied to the real door, no separate layer for the logo, and no note that says which region is the window and which is vinyl. Type is pixels. If the model warped a word across a panel, the shop cannot edit that word inside the JPEG.
Shops still want the picture the same day. It is how a walk-in sees the job on their own vehicle before anyone rebuilds artwork. Wrap shops use that proof to get a yes, then hand production a file that can be edited.
What the print file has to carry
A print-ready handoff names the pieces. The designer opens a ZIP in Illustrator and finds isolated layers plus handoff notes: the subject on its own, the graphics separated, and a short file that says how the proof was built. That is Export for Design.
Scale still belongs to the designer who knows the vehicle panels. The kit gives them editable pieces from the approved proof instead of a single flattened picture to trace by eye. HD proofs do not need a kit. The kit starts when production needs those layers.
Prompt patterns for the proof itself live on Prompt School. Placing a ChatGPT picture on the van is covered in ChatGPT wrap to a shop proof.
The shop path
Approval comes before the Illustrator ZIP. Each step hands the next person a specific file.
1. AI concept
The client sends a ChatGPT or other AI wrap picture. It shows the idea: colors, logo placement, and the vehicle they have in mind. The shop uses it to start the quote.
2. Proof and approval
Put that picture on the real vehicle photo and send a proof the client can approve the same day. HD is the clean file for that yes. HD proofs do not need a kit.
3. Export for Design
After the yes, the kit is a ZIP your designer opens in Illustrator: isolated layers and handoff notes. 2 kits a month on Pro, 10 on Production, unlimited on Business, or $19 a kit on any plan.
Reconstruction, when the artwork has to be rebuilt
Some renders are warped so hard that type, gradients, and logos have to be rebuilt as vectors before anyone can cut vinyl. A reconstruction partner dewarps that render and rebuilds the artwork. That job sits beside the proof. It does not replace the client approval that happens first.
Proof, then Export for Design
- Open wrap proofs or Create with the vehicle photo and the AI picture. Guests get a watermarked preview with no account.
- You get 3 mockups when you sign up (lifetime), not per month. HD, when they want a clean proof to approve, is from $5 or included with Pro at $49/mo.
- Run Export for Design after they say yes. The ZIP opens in Illustrator with isolated layers and handoff notes. The designer handoff is spelled out on ChatGPT to Illustrator.
- Watermarked preview on Create — guests, no account
- 3 mockups on signup, lifetime. The allowance does not reset each month.
- HD from $5, or Pro $49/mo
- Export for Design: 2 kits a month on Pro, 10 on Production, unlimited on Business, or $19 a kit
- HD proofs do not need a kit
Plan names and the kit allowance are on pricing. 2 kits a month on Pro, 10 on Production, unlimited on Business, or $19 a kit on any plan.
When a reconstruction partner fits
MockMapr makes the same-day client proof and the Export for Design kit. A reconstruction partner fits when the source picture itself has to be dewarped and the lettering rebuilt as vectors for the cutter. Shops use both in sequence when the job needs a yes today and a rebuilt production file afterward.
WrapWorks is one product that publishes that reconstruction job: dewarp the render, rebuild text, gradients, and logos. The MockMapr and WrapWorks comparison lists the two jobs side by side, including the prices each site publishes. MockMapr does not print, ship, or install the wrap.
Choose the proof path when the shop needs approval on the vehicle photo. Choose a reconstruction partner when the artwork has to be rebuilt before it can be cut. Export for Design is the Illustrator ZIP from the approved proof, available on Pro, Production, and Business, or for $19 a kit on any plan.
Who holds which file
| Person | File they use | When |
|---|---|---|
| Client | Shop proof on their vehicle | Before they approve the job |
| Shop | Watermarked preview, then HD | Same day, during the quote |
| Designer | Export for Design ZIP in Illustrator | After the client says yes |
| Reconstruction partner | Dewarped vector rebuild | When the artwork itself has to be rebuilt |
Questions
Why is an AI wrap picture a proof, and the print file a later step?
The AI picture is what the client reacts to: a single image with the wrap, the vehicle, and the lighting baked into the pixels. A print file carries panel scale, isolated layers, and handoff notes a designer opens in Illustrator. Shops use the picture to get approval, then build the print file from that yes.
What does MockMapr do with the AI picture?
MockMapr places it on the vehicle as a same-day client proof. Guests get a watermarked preview on Create. Signup includes 3 mockups, lifetime, not per month. HD is from $5 or included with Pro at $49/mo. After the client approves, Export for Design is the ZIP your designer opens in Illustrator, with isolated layers and handoff notes.
What does an Export for Design kit cost?
2 kits a month on Pro, 10 on Production, unlimited on Business, or $19 a kit on any plan. HD proofs do not need a kit.
Do I need a kit to send an HD proof?
No. HD proofs do not need a kit. HD is from $5 or included with Pro at $49/mo. The kit is the Illustrator handoff after the client approves.
When does a reconstruction partner fit?
When the render has to be dewarped and the type, gradients, and logos rebuilt as vectors before the wrap can be cut. That rebuild is a reconstruction job. MockMapr handles the same-day client proof and the Export for Design kit. The WrapWorks comparison lists how those jobs sit next to each other.
Can I read this and preview a proof without an account?
Yes. This page is public. Create gives guests a watermarked preview with no account. Signup adds 3 mockups, lifetime, not per month.
